The University of the Pacific Audiology Program has a partnership with Entheos Audiology Cooperative to provide an opportunity for our students to go on a humanitarian hearing trips to provide hearing healthcare around the world in a sustainable and dignified way.
Entheos is an audiology cooperative providing sustainability through a three-step process of relief, development and empowerment. The University of the Pacific has been sending students on trips with Entheos to Guatemala, Jordan and South Africa since 2016. Students are given the opportunity to attend humanitarian trips in developing countries, in order to provide free hearing tests and donated hearing aids to community members in varying countries.
The most recent trip was to Panajachel, Guatemala this past summer. Seven students were members of a team made up of audiologists and volunteers. They saw more than 200 patients for hearing screenings, evaluations and hearing aid fittings over the course of a week.
Additional mission opportunities are offered through the Entheos Student Initiative with the goal of encouraging graduate students to gain confidence and provide a high level of service under the supervision of Entheos members.
